“Some who are poor pretend to be rich, others who are rich pretend to be poor.” Proverbs 13:7
Wow. This is my interpretation of this verse—> there are many who have money but are miserable, lonely, even to the point of committing suicide. There are people who possess little to no money and yet so much joy is within them. They are very generous even with the little they have. They have what the rich could never throw money down to receive.
There are people on the street and some in prison who are more at peace than those sitting up in a mansion somewhere. I suppose it has to do with gratefulness.
For many, when they have money, titles, cars, degrees, “power” over people or things they no longer feel the need to seek the Lord or to be grateful for everything He has blessed them with. On the other hand, the “poor” seeks the Lord daily to simply survive. They are grateful for each and every blessing that comes there way.
Though man may be impressed with what the rich man has accumulated, the Lord takes delight in those who are humble and grateful.
Don’t live for the fleeting reward of man, instead live to earn an eternal reward from our Lord and Savior.
